Do I need an appointment to pick up my items?
HPL branches currently offer On Demand Takeout (no appointment necessary). Pick up holds, Print on the Go and Makerspace projects and Grab and Go bags Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm. Requests for library materials can be made on site. HPL Staff will retrieve all items for you. Access to public computers and washrooms is not available.
How do I get library materials?
Check in with the Greeter and show your library card or provide your name and phone number. HPL Staff will retrieve holds, print jobs, Makerspace projects, Grab and Go Bags and any requested library materials.
When can I pick up my holds?
When you receive a notice from HPL that your holds are ready, pick them up at your selected branch. No appointment necessary. Staff will retrieve your holds.
How long can I borrow physical library materials?
You have 28 days to enjoy your items.
Can I return my library materials at the Greeter desk?
No. Please put items in the drop box at any of our branches, any time. Please don’t hand your items to staff directly.
How many library materials can I place on hold?
You may place up to 50 holds at any one time. Magazines and Reference materials are not eligible for holds at this time. Please place holds through the online catalogue
Why can’t I cancel my holds in my HPL online account?
Members can cancel any holds which are "not ready". If the item is “Ready for Pickup” or “In Transit”, please call 905-546-3200 or chat online on HPL.ca to cancel your holds.
How do I manage/cancel my holds?
Below are two instruction sheets with step-by-step information on how to: cancel holds on items you have already read, listened to or watched, pause items you don’t want right now or change your pickup location to a different location.
Can we pick up our holds from the Bookmobile?
Yes. You are able to pick up your holds from the Bookmobile. Find a Bookmobile stop near you!
